Yesterday, I was randomly walking around Potts Point, and being the hungry me, I saw some patrons of Kazbah with a Tagine for breakfast. I was intrigued and I thought, "what the hell, might as well give it a shot".
I've come to find out that Kazbah Group is chain of restaurants owned by Zahi and Penny Azzi with recipies based on their Turkish/Lebanese/Greek heritage based on French haute cooking techniques - however, I'd say their breakfasts are more "traditional" in nature.
Even before being sat down, I knew what I wanted to try: "Kazbah's world famous breakfast tagine" The lamb mince version. The Tagine, served together with sucuk sausage, spinach, roast capsicum, roast tomato, feta, caramelised onion and two eggs, is what I'd call a super charged breakfast fit for all.
It might sound a bit heavy at first, but I'll liken this to the equivalent of a British fry up, moroccan style. Definitely a good hang over cure.
People that hesitate to eat lamb because of the musky taste won't be sorry at all - The armoas from the spices empowers the lamb mince with great flavours and the vegetables are cooked to an incredible state where their flavours hit ever part of the tongue. Hit the mince, running egg yolk and vegetables with a dash of lemon and serve it on a slice of crusted Turkish bread: you''ll be tasting a sweet, savoury, spice infused delight.
Perfectly sized portion, it'll leave your digestive track (frail or not) in comfort and warm peace to get you going for the day.
The restaurant itself is in the basement, with around two tables outside the door for eating. It's spacious inside, and very practical for meeting up with larger groups of friends to catch up with.
